90年代の音楽シーンに一大ムーブメントを巻き起こしたブリット・ポップを総括したCD3枚組のコンピレーション・アルバム『Common People: Brit Pop - The Story』（写真）が発売に。
英ユニバーサルによる企画で、ユニバーサル傘下レーベル所属アーティストを中心に全54曲をセレクト。コンピ盤のタイトルともなった「Common People」のパルプをはじめ、ザ・ストーン・ローゼズ、ジェイムス、キャスト、ブルートーンズ、ブー・ラドリーズ、スーパーグラス、ポール・ウェラー、ディヴァイン・コメディ、クーラ・シェイカー、マンサン、プラシーボ、オーシャン・カラー・シーン、シェッド・セヴン、スーパー・ファーリー・アニマルズ、スウェード、ステレオフォニックス、メンズウェア、ジーン、ドッジー、エラスティカ、ダブスター、マリオン、エコーベリー、カタトニアなど、ブリット・ポップ現象を彩ったヒット曲の数々が詰め込まれています。発売は英国にて6月8日を予定。なお、ライナー・ノーツは、当時『メロディ・メーカー』誌に寄稿していたセイント・エティエンヌのボブ・スタンリーが担当しています。
